26 um 11:00 Uhr=0D=0A=0D=0A Defying a sadly and increasingly pervasive trend in to
day=E2=80=99s heavy music scene\, =0D=0A Comeback Kid have managed to not only
maintain but expand the energy and urgency =0D=0A of their groundbreaking de
but and sophomore LPs over the course of a decorated 25+ =0D=0A year career.
Luckily =E2=80=93 at least for their fervidly loyal fanbase =E2=80=93 there
's a lot to be angry =0D=0A about these days... =0D=0A Chosen Hell\, the band=E2
=80=99s eighth and latest LP\, further distills the potency of the musical
=0D=0A elements that have defined CBK since the beginning while once again evo
lving their =0D=0A creative spectrum\, weaving in influences of blazing modern
metal\, piss-and-vinegar =0D=0A punk\, and even vulnerable melodicism that add
s compelling contrast to their =0D=0A longstanding and beloved sonic foundati
on. =0D=0A =E2=80=9CWe=E2=80=99ve always been a band that understands and emb
races our identity\, but it=E2=80=99s also =0D=0A important to us that we keep
pushing our boundaries\,=E2=80=9D begins frontman Andrew =0D=0A Neufeld. =E2
=80=9CIn the past\, there may have been ideas we stifled because we thought
they =0D=0A were outside the core of what Comeback Kid should be\, but we felt
comfortable =0D=0A exploring those things this time around.=E2=80=9D =0D=0A Th
e quintet\, comprised of Neufeld\, guitarists Jeremy Hiebert and Stu Ross\, ba
ssist =0D=0A Chase Brenneman\, and drummer Terrance Pettitt\, cut Chosen Hell w
ith heralded =0D=0A producer/engineer Will Putney at his Graphic Nature Audio
studio in New Jersey =E2=80=93 an =0D=0A exercise that clearly elevated the
 impact\, power\, and passion of these 11 tracks. =E2=80=9CHe=E2=80=99s =0D=0A a
lso been a supporter of ours from the get\, so he knows where we=E2=80=99re
coming from and =0D=0A really understood our vision\,=E2=80=9D shares Neufeld.
=E2=80=9CWe all played to our strengths as best =0D=0A we could\, and I think
that=E2=80=99s really apparent in the final product.=E2=80=9D =0D=0A The alb
um blasts out of the barrel with =E2=80=9CTarget on My Back\,=E2=80=9D immed
iately establishing =0D=0A the aural assault listeners have in store. Among t
he most potent and impactful offerings =0D=0A from a band that built their ca
reer on the back of tracks just like it\, gut-wrenching growls =0D=0A contrast
with subtle but soaring clean vocals for a blistering exercise in dynamism
. =0D=0A =E2=80=9CVindication=E2=80=9D brings the metal further to the forefr
ont with zero decline in intensity\, =0D=0A making clear the band aimed to out
do themselves this time around =E2=80=93 and equally clear =0D=0A they soared
past the target. =0D=0A Two selections add new names to Comeback Kid=E2=80
=99s long and diverse list of guest =0D=0A vocalists\, with Spiritbox frontwom
an Courtney LaPlante injecting her raw guttural glory =0D=0A into =E2=80=9CSh
edding Season=E2=80=9D while Incendiary=E2=80=99s Brendan Garrone augments
the ferocity of =0D=0A =E2=80=9CYesterday=E2=80=99s Gone=E2=80=9D with his tr
ademark swagger. =0D=0A The title track pairs deeply introspective lyricism a
top a punishing aural arsenal\, with =0D=0A CBK exploring the spectrum of mora
lity and ethics =E2=80=93 good and evil\; right and wrong\; and =0D=0A our coll
ective ability to make choices between said extremes. =E2=80=9CSometimes we
=E2=80=99re just =0D=0A incapable of choosing the =E2=80=98right=E2=80=99 thi
ng\, and we find ourselves in situations that hold us =0D=0A back and are detr
imental to our own well-being\,=E2=80=9D Neufeld muses. =0D=0A Indeed\, while t
here=E2=80=99s plenty in the world at large that=E2=80=99s worthy of wrath\,
much of Chosen =0D=0A Hell=E2=80=99s lyrical themes are deeply personal. =E2
=80=9CHeartland Elegy\,=E2=80=9D arguably the purest punk =0D=0A offering on t
he record\, pays homage to longtime friend and former CBK bassist Matt =0D=0A
 Keil\, who passed in 2025 following a 19-month bout with ALS. =E2=80=9CLost
and Found=E2=80=9D =0D=0A similarly delves into the deep anguish of personal
loss and the traces of themselves that =0D=0A people leave behind\, the track
itself slowly decaying as Neufeld sings poignantly over a =0D=0A softly strum
med acoustic guitar. =0D=0A =E2=80=9COverall\, I was able to let my guard down
a little bit while writing for this one\, and took =0D=0A more input from eve
rybody else\,=E2=80=9D adds Neufeld. =E2=80=9CIt was really collaborative th
 at way\, =0D=0A which is also kind of new for us.=E2=80=9D =0D=0A It=E2=80=99s t
hat blend of familiar musical fury laced with novel elements that=E2=80=99s
earned Comeback =0D=0A Kid its loyal following and overall longevity =E2=80
=93 along with their ability to relay said fury =0D=0A from the stage. Throug
h the years\, they=E2=80=99ve toured relentlessly alongside iconic acts from
=0D=0A every corner of heavy music =E2=80=93 hardcore icons like Hatebreed a
nd Sick of It All\; punk =0D=0A pioneers including Dropkick Murphys and Bad Re
ligion\; metal masters like Gojira and =0D=0A Parkway Drive\; and even rock rad
io mainstays like Rise Against and Alexisonfire. =0D=0A And thankfully for th
eir faithful\, CBK has no interest in slowing down. Fresh from a run =0D=0A ce
lebrating the 20th anniversary of their seminal second LP\, Wake the Dead\, i
n late =0D=0A 2025\, the boys are keen to hit the road again across multiple c
ontinents later this year =0D=0A and well into 2027 =E2=80=93 and this latest
work will prove equally as chaotic and cathartic from =0D=0A the stage as it
is the stereo. =0D=0A There=E2=80=99s still plenty to be angry about\, but Ch
osen Hell is a masterclass in processing =0D=0A that pain and rage and output
ting something truly transcendent =E2=80=93 a reward for =0D=0A conquering th
e hardships we all encounter. And if Comeback Kid can carry forward this $
$ trend of continually exceeding their own standards\, then we can only eag
erly await what =0D=0A might come next=E2=80=A6 Einlass: 17:30 Uhr Alte
